Newcastle Benfield Away To Brandon

Brandon United v Newcastle Benfield
League Cup – Group D
Wednesday 6th November 2019

Newcastle Benfield head to the Welfare Ground home of Brandon United this coming Wednesday for a Northern League cup clash, 7-45pm kick off.

This tie was originally scheduled for Wednesday 9th October but was postponed at the eleventh hour after vandalism put a section of the floodlights out of action.

It will be a confident Lions squad who head down to County Durham after Saturdays convincing Buildbase FA Vase victory over Guisborough Town.

Brandon currently find themselves bottom of the second division of the Northern League but will be sure to raise their game against opposition from the first division. Although our hosts have conceded five in each of their last three home games, they certainly can’t be taken lightly having already secured a 0-0 draw against first division Sunderland Ryhope CW earlier in the season, in a different competition.

Brandon’s last home victory was against Tow Law back in August when they recorded their biggest win of the season (4-1).

Although Consett have secured top spot, there are still permutations regarding the remainder of Group D, however, Benfield will be assured of second spot and will progress to the knockout stages if they pick up at least a point on Wednesday evening.

Brandon were meant to be at home to West Allotment on Saturday gone but a waterlogged pitch scuppered that fixture. With rain never far away at the moment, please keep a check on social media to avoid an unnecessary journey.
